Cutting and trimming refers to all operations designed to produce components that are shaped and then assembled to make a device or a more complex assembly. In general :
cutting refers to operations carried out mechanically (shearing, punching, sawing, etc.);
cutting refers to thermal cutting operations (plasma, laser, etc.).
