In a transmission electron microscope, electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS – ) studies the energy distribution of electrons that have passed through the sample. There is also reflection electron energy loss spectrometry [P 2 635][2] , used for material surface analysis in a specific instrument, similar to a scanning microscope, which we won't go into here.
