6. Plasmonic properties (LSPR)
Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) corresponds to a resonance of the electromagnetic field of the light wave with the free electrons of a metal. It occurs when a light wave interacts with metallic nanostructures whose radii of curvature are much smaller than the wavelength. This resonance is most often characterized by maximum light absorption for a band of wavelengths, and is caused by nanoparticles dispersed in a liquid medium or in a transparent solid.
