7. Parts inspection
The consistency of the quality obtained is ensured by compliance with a certain number of requirements adapted to the conditions of use of the parts.
These operations must include the following steps:
chemical and physical testing of alloys and metallic materials ;
control of molding and core materials ;
dimensional verification of part models ;
manufacturing process control ;
pre-casting quality control of the resulting metal.
Examplethe degree of refining is checked by casting a cylindrical bar which is broken and examined, first by eye and, if the result is doubtful, by metallographic examination.
