3. CCP functionalization in thermoplastic nanocomposites
In the following paragraphs, we will focus on CCP SOCAL® and Winnofil®.
PVC is the second most widely used thermoplastic after PE, thanks to its extremely high quality/price ratio, the diversity of its properties, and its durability. Two synthesis routes are used: emulsion and suspension processes. PVC has an amorphous structure and therefore no defined melting point. Nevertheless, notable changes in behavior are recorded at around 170 ˚C.
Three types of PVC formulations can be distinguished:
Rigid PVC, formulated in the dry blend state, using a low or medium molecular weight resin;
Soft PVC, comprising a medium or high molecular weight PVC resin combined...
