INTRODUCTION
The term vinylester most often refers to the product of dissolving vinylester in a copolymerizable solvent, the most commonly used being styrene.
Vinyl ester resins are similar to polyester resins in their polymerization process and applications (which are also those of epoxy resins). However, their processing methods are very different, as are the physical and chemical properties of the finished products. For this reason, Dow resins (the world's leading producer) have been renamed epoxy vinyl ester resins, to emphasize the similarities between the epoxy and vinyl ester resin families.
