1.1.1 Introduction
Thermoplastic polyurethanes are made up of rigid polyurethane sequences and flexible polyester or polyether sequences. In general, polyesters have better mechanical properties and good chemical resistance, while polyethers are more resistant to hydrolysis and biological attack.
TPU is one of the thermoplastic elastomers used with glass-fibre reinforcement, giving it high rigidity and applications that go beyond the usual uses of elastomers.
