1. Principles

1.1 Technical description

Electrodialysis [1] can be carried out in a filter-press type device whose external flanges constitute the electrodes. The stack can be arranged vertically or horizontally.

These electrodes can be separated by a single membrane: this is single-membrane electrodialysis or electroelectrodialysis (figure 1 ) [9] .
