4. Separation of molecular solutes

4.1 Adsorption chromatography

Adsorption chromatography, also known as liquid-solid chromatography (LSC), uses silica and alumina gels as stationary phases.

It is well suited to the separation of compounds with different polar functional groups (as in the case of many therapeutic molecules) and positional isomers.
