3. Conclusion
After analyzing the mode of operation and structures of the discrete components currently being developed for photodetection in fiber optic transmission systems, we detailed the principles of measurement of their specific parameters.
It is very important to bear in mind the particular care in terms of metrology and signal processing required for absolute radiometric measurements, such as sensitivities and minimum detectable powers, which require control of the radio environment (ambient light) and of the optical beams between sources and receivers, both in terms of geometry and quantity of photons transported.
