The complete screen is made up of a matrix of "cells", each capable of emitting a light signal, either green, blue or red.
Each cell is the site of a gas discharge that produces ultraviolet photons to excite luminescent materials (luminophores).
More precisely, the screen is composed of two glass slabs.
Column electrodes are placed on the rear slab, and covered with a dielectric (enamel). Separation barriers are then deposited to delimit the channels. The sides and bottoms of these channels are then coated with phosphor...
