6. Conclusion

It is impossible to ignore the significant changes that have taken place in the everyday electromagnetic environment. Not so long ago, portable frequency-modulation (FM) transceivers used for commercial, public health, and amateur radio communications were the predominant RF applications. Distribution was limited (for example, by licensing requirements), and in most cases, radiating antennas were installed outside buildings to optimize their efficiency. The situation changed once technology made it possible to manufacture compact, lightweight, and reasonably priced wireless phones. Wireless services (DECT, mobile phones, UMTS/Wi-Fi/WiMAX/Bluetooth®1, baby monitors, etc.) are now widely used and accepted.
