1.1 – six-port direct conversion receiver Principle of operation
A six-port direct conversion receiver is a passive network typically composed of couplers and/or power dividers that are interconnected by transmission lines. It has two inputs (reference signal (LO) and input signal (RF)), as well as four outputs connected to power detectors to generate demodulated I and Q waveforms. Its operating frequency can be in the microwave or millimeter wave bands.
In this section, the qualities of a direct conversion receiver incorporating a radio frequency front end based on a six-port device will be highlighted in the demodulation of RF signals. The architecture of the six-port circuit in Figure
