The most commonly used temperature sensor principles are as follows.

• Thermoelectric effect (figure 41 )

  The most common thermocouples are :

  • type T (copper/constantan) ;

  • type J (iron/constantan) ;

  • type K (chromel/alumel) ;

  • type E (chromel/constantan) ;

  • S-type (platinum-rhodium 10%/platinum) ;

  • type R (platinum-rhodium 13%/platinum).
