7. Conformity assessment procedures
Procedures vary according to the nature of the products, their category and their intended use.
A distinction is made between :
protective systems whose function is to stop incipient explosions or to limit the area affected by an explosion, and which are marketed separately;
electrical appliances ;
internal combustion engines ;
other appliances. Non-electrical appliances fall into this category.
Components are also evaluated according to the same criteria.
The procedure varies according to nature and intended use. All procedures are defined in Annexes III to IX of the Directive.
