5. Activity measurements

In crisis situations, the often tight deadlines for reporting results and the large number of samples to be measured mean that we need to optimize the time allocated to measurements, while respecting the objectives of measurement uncertainty and detection limit.

5.1 Measurement uncertainty

Independently of the uncertainty due to sampling, the components of the final uncertainty of a measurement result are essentially :

statistical counting uncertainty ;
the uncertainty of the calibration factor, taking into account, if necessary, any deviation between the calibration conditions and the measurement conditions due to sample characteristics (nature, geometry) different from those...
