9. Calculation example
The example below shows how to use the software proposed with this article; the calculations performed by the machine are not developed.
Consider the case study of a pipe with a diameter of 0.1 m, through which water is flowing at a temperature of 20°C, with a density of 998.23 kg · m-3 and a viscosity of 1 centipoise (data taken from [6], which may differ slightly depending on the source), at a pressure of 2 bar absolute. A maximum flow rate of 0.03 m3/s is requested.
The simplest solution is the orifice plate. In the "primary element" line presented in the program, we therefore choose a diaphragm with pressure taps at the flange. The "materials" will - in all likelihood - be ordinary steel for the pipe, but stainless steel for the primary element, whose orifice edges must remain largely insensitive to corrosion. In the "upstream conditions" line, we'll enter...

Installation
Insert the CD ROM into the drive and double-click on "My Computer".
Double-click on the "Setup" icon.
The installation program generates a Program Files \TI\DepWin directory, but you can choose to create a different directory; an icon is also created, and placed on the "Desktop". If this is not the case, you can create a shortcut from Windows Explorer. Don't forget (if you haven't already done so ...) to load this Notorif1.doc...
