5. Device functions
Throughout these articles, we will use the following terms to describe the main functions of level measurement and control equipment:
the transmitter, which delivers an analog signal generally proportional to the measurement, usually standardized, pneumatic or electronic;
the detector provides information on the presence of a liquid or solid level, and supplies a logic signal;
the indicator provides visual information on the height of a level;
the direct controller integrates all the elements of a control loop.
