7.1 Definitions. Measures
By definition, precipitation is the solid or liquid product resulting from the condensation of water vapor, which falls from clouds or passes directly from the air to the ground where it settles. It includes rain, hail, snow, dew, frost, hoarfrost, and settling fog.
The measurements consist of quantifying the amount of precipitation reaching the ground, represented by the thickness it would have if it covered, in liquid form, the horizontal projection of the ground surface.
The measurements are therefore expressed in heights (usually in millimeters).
One millimeter of rain represents one liter of water over a surface area of one square meter....
