Figure 1 shows the main components of a temperature sensor. A temperature sensor consists of a sensing element, which, depending on the sensor used, may be a thermometric resistor or a thermocouple, an insulating cover for the conductors, an outer sheath and a connecting element. The sensor is connected to the instrumentation by a cable.
2.1 Resistance elements
The variation in electrical resistance is translated into temperature using a known analytical relationship.
