3. Rotating electrode
It involves melting the end of a horizontally-axed metal bar that rotates at high speed (several thousand revolutions per minute). The metal droplets are ejected by centrifugal force and cooled along their path by a neutral gas in a large-diameter chamber (itself cooled by a water circuit). The diameter of this enclosure is large enough for the droplets to solidify before touching it. In the lower part of the chamber, a collector collects the powder.
