Four scales of geometric definition are generally adopted:

• global scale (the order of magnitude of the dimension of the mechanism under consideration). For example, a CAD-3D view shows the morphology and position of each part (figure 8 ). In the perspective view, it's easy to imagine a median plane passing through the middle of the width of the component parts. This median plane will always be a defining reference.
