3. Acquisition chain
The aim of measurement is to match a physical quantity to a quantity that can be understood by the acquisition system. Nowadays, this involves almost exclusively electrical signals, which have replaced the mechanical and optical systems of yesteryear. The sensor delivers a signal which is amplified and converted into volts by a conditioner. The acquisition system then only has to process an electrical current, the intensity of which is directly related to the amplitude of the phenomenon seen by the sensor, whatever the type of sensor.
