2. Hydrodynamic thrust bearings
The simplest hydrodynamic system is the inclined plane used in
thrust bearings. In the case of circular thrust bearings, the moving
grain carried by the rotation shaft faces fixed or oscillating sectors.
Let's take a look at these different cases.
The inclined plane is made up of two non-parallel flat surfaces
(figure

): the
horizontal underside, which moves at translational speed U, and the
upper surface, which is inclined at a very small angle α to the horizontal.
