4. Tribocorrosion of dental implants
Tribocorrosion, which is caused by the dual action of wear and corrosion, can occur under a variety of conditions (sliding, wear due to small deflections, rolling, impact) in a corrosive environment.
Tribocorrosion studies on titanium, its untreated alloys and alloys with treated surfaces under sliding conditions are shown in Tables 1 and 2. In general, tribocorrosion work is focused on the evaluation of surface treatments (table 3), which improve the wear and corrosion performance of materials (Ti6Al4V or Cp-Ti), and on the analysis of environmental variables (pH, fluoride concentration in artificial saliva, temperature)...
