Standardized pumps

The French standard NF E 44-145 Forces et Moments applicables aux flanges, pompes centrifuges et hélico-centrifuges à axe horizontal (Forces and moments applicable to flanges, centrifugal and helico-centrifugal horizontal-axis pumps) assesses the limiting forces on flanges for 8 major families of single-stage and multistage pumps.

This comprehensive standard covers the case of complex 12-component loading [3 forces (F_x , F_y, F_z ) and 3 moments on each flange].

General case

This is dealt with either by assigning the pump to one of the 8 standardized families, or by calculating the deformation of the pump body and, above all, its support. Efforts are generally limited by the coupling (trimming), and very exceptionally by internal clearances.
