3.1.1 Pocket and cavity milling
Pocket milling uses the tool's ability to drill to a certain depth before milling. The cutter must be able to advance axially over the entire depth of the pocket, either in a single pass, or in several roughing or sloping milling passes. The slot milling cutter used must have a cross-cutting edge at the end to enable relatively deep drilling, as is the case with the types shown in figure
