2. Application examples
This section describes three examples of polymer additive manufacturing molds: an injection mold, a thermoforming mold and an extrusion former. These three processes have similarities and differences: for each process, the design rules and choices made will be specified to help make the right choices when designing a tool. For thermoforming and extrusion, an economic assessment of the technology has been carried out in order to make a comparison with machined aluminum tooling.
