Additive manufacturing technologies that consume less material have quickly come to be seen as "sustainable" manufacturing methods. However, we have just seen that unused material can be recycled from at least partially degraded or discarded products, and that we may need to consider methods of purifying materials for optimal reuse (or re-use in other fields).
