3.1 Deactivator and passivator corrosion inhibitors
In lubrication practice, additives designed to combat corrosion in general are referred to as "anti-rust additives" when they combat the wet corrosion of ferrous metals, and as "anti-corrosive additives" or corrosion inhibitors when they are designed to combat the acid or sulfur corrosion of non-ferrous metals, particularly copper alloys.
