4. Chemistry controls and new properties for nanotalcs
The synthesis protocol uses metal chloride as the magnesium source. Electroneutrality equilibrium is achieved for pure talc by occupying the octahedra of the octahedral layer with divalent cations Mg2+. This equilibrium will not be broken if the magnesium is replaced by another divalent cation such as Ni2+, Co2+, ... The products obtained will no longer be talcs sensu stricto but equivalents where all the magnesium can be replaced by nickel, the structural formula then becomes Ni3Si4O10(OH)2. It is also possible to design a product with an equal proportion of Ni and Mg and one can obtain a product for example with this stoichiometry (Ni50%Mg50%)3Si4O10(OH)2. The results show that the final products are all nano-talc equivalents, that they are pure, and that...
