3. Three pollutants: particulate matter, NOx and O3
We will draw up an inventory of emissions of each pollutant by sector of activity, and analyze the concentrations observed in the atmosphere, from the local to the European scale. Specifically for ozone, emission levels of NMVOCs, which contribute along with NOx to its formation, will be presented, along with the resulting concentrations.
The average exhaust particle diameter of a vehicle with an internal combustion engine is around 80 nm, or 0.08 µm. We will therefore focus on emissions of particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 µm (or PM
2.5
), as these are more representative of road transport. PM
