5. Compressed air transport
The air produced in the plant is distributed to the various points of use by a network of pipes. This network is built according to the usual rules (see articles under the heading Piping. Reservoirs in the Industrial Engineering treatise
[A 841]
).
Piping is made of seamless black steel (standard NF A 49-111) or galvanized steel, stainless steel or plastic (AB, PVC) (standard NF A 49-700), to avoid corrosion. For small-diameter installations, we also use copper (NF A 51-120 standard) and, for hose connections, rubber or special plastic (nylon, etc.).
In each case, the appropriate connecting pieces (elbows, sleeves, T-pieces, etc.) are used....
