1. Heat flow in the combustion chamber
The evaluation of heat flows on the wall of a combustion chamber can be carried out in a similar way to that of the blades (cf. ).
Figure 1 shows the heat flows acting on the chamber wall. Those entering are due to radiation R1 and hot gas convection C1, while the outer side of the wall yields heat flow to the convective cooling system C2, by radiation R2 towards the envelope due to the large surfaces involved and the low value of the outer wall temperatures. Heat exchange between the two faces of the wall K1 – 2 is of the conductive type. The geometric characteristics of the wall, with its large surface area and reduced thickness, mean that conduction can be considered a one-dimensional process, and we can therefore write [1]:
