2. Storage tank configuration
To meet the wide variety of liquid industrial products to be stored, manufacturers use tanks of various shapes and designs, designed to adapt as rationally and economically as possible to the characteristics of the product to be processed.
The configuration of a tank depends on two essential imperatives: on the one hand, the preservation of the product by limiting or preventing evaporation, and on the other, the structure's ability to withstand the internal pressure developed by the product or maintained at a certain level to facilitate operation.
The cylindrical shape is the most common, due to its ease of installation and good resistance to internal pressure. When the internal pressure is high, spherical shapes are more suitable than cylinders, enabling wall thicknesses to be reduced.
