6. Periodic inspection
The purpose of the periodic inspection is to verify that the condition
of the pressure equipment enables it to be maintained in service with
a level of safety compatible with foreseeable operating conditions.
Periodic inspections are the responsibility of the operator. The
operator must take account of comments made during inspections, and
must withdraw from service any equipment whose safety level has been
compromised.
Interventions must be carried out by a competent person, capable
of recognizing the defects likely to be encountered and assessing
their seriousness. This person can be :
the agent of an authorized body ;
the operator himself, if competent, or a competent person
designated by him;
