4. Brief description of production processes and equipment
Before moving on to the actual machining process, let's take a brief look at the production resources used by the machinist to create the machining sequence. Broadly speaking, he or she must have technical knowledge of the following areas: the different types of machine tools and their controls, the different materials processing methods (machining, forming, electrical processes, etc.), the different types of tools and tool holders, the means of mounting and securing parts on production units, and the means of quality control. The last two categories are described in greater detail in paragraphs
