4. Main applications
This is an industrial technique reserved for the production of large series of parts. Using an injection molding machine, plastic material is forced under heat and pressure into a mold with one or more cavities (depending on the size of the parts to be produced). The parts to be produced are small and medium-sized (from 5 mm to 1 m).
Electroformed cavities are difficult to compete with machined cavities. It is only suitable for series of identical cavities, often requiring tight tolerances and surface finishes (mirror polish).
Example
Imitation wood or leather parts.
Thin parts such as pen bodies, caps, pipettes.
