2. Specific aspects of each process class
The various processes are described in detail in the articles in the "Machining by chip removal" section ("Materials processing. Assembly" document base). By far the most widely used, these traditional processes have acquired a new lease of life and considerable vitality, thanks in particular to the development in the 1960s of numerically-controlled machine tools, which can be used for a wide range of cutting operations: machining centers, CNC machining centres, etc.
