Heat transfer in MAG welding has been the subject of several theses in recent years. Today, it's accepted that the two main sources of energy in this process are the Joule effect produced by the electrical resistance of the wire and the workpiece, and the energy provided by plasma electrons, which condense and release most of their thermal input at the surface of the workpiece.
