Description

The semi-automatic process is an electric arc welding technique [B 7 730] . Called MIG/MAG (Metal Inert Gas/Metal Active Gas) or GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) in English-speaking countries, its principle is based on the use of a fusible electrode. The electric arc generating the heat required for welding is established between the workpiece (anode) and the filler metal wire (cathode) fed by the torch.
