Metal welding: specific destructive testing

The texture test is a fracture test on specimens joined by welding. The fracture must be located in the molten zone. To this end, the molten zone is notched. This test only applies to welded joints with a thickness of 2 mm or more. Texture testing is used to identify defects in the melt zone of the weld bead, such as cracks, sticking or porosity. The advantage of this test, like the bending test, is that it can easily be carried out in the workshop, as no special equipment is required. All the specifications for this test are given in standard NF EN ISO 9017.
