These different adhesives are similar to external plasticized vinyls, but here they are internal plasticizers: it's the comonomer that gives the plasticizing effect.
These emulsion adhesives are more flexible, tackier and softer after setting than previous vinyls.
They are mainly used for laminating plastic films to wood-based panels, such as decorative PVC films to MDF (Medium Density Fiber), plywood or particleboard.
ExampleA typical current application is the bonding of decorative PVC films to non-planar panels, known as 3-dimensional panels, to make kitchen furniture doors or other non-planar, molded doors....
