ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian)

A technique for studying fluid flow at a fixed point in space. Lagrangian description enables the study of structural movements at a point that follows the displacement of the structure. A Lagrangian mesh adapts to motion and can sometimes undergo such deformations that it is no longer possible to calculate! An Eulerian mesh is fixed: it has a limited capacity to describe a sometimes highly complex motion. Between the two approaches, the Arbitrary Lagangian-Eulerian mesh draws on the advantages of both descriptions, while limiting their drawbacks.
