The basic equations of EN 1591

A representation of a flange ring without a connected shell is shown (figure 14).

Equation 7.1 represents the behavior law:

taking into account thermal effects but neglecting radial ring deformation.

We then define :

• R_F tangential resultant of external forces on the flange per radian unit 7.2 ;

• M_F moment (at the intersection of the bolt's effective diameter axis and the base of the flange ring) of external forces on the flange, per radian unit 7.3.
