3. Applications
In general, any specifications for non-destructive testing must describe the part(s) to be inspected.
the environment in which the inspection service is performed;
a description of the defects to be detected, with a representative sample provided if possible.
The description of the physical principles of the various techniques presented in the preceding paragraphs allows the suitability of a technique for a given inspection to be assessed based on the type of defects being sought. A summary enabling one or more techniques to be selected is presented in Table
4
