2. Measurement precautions
In this section, we provide general precautions for accurate measurements.
Depending on the type of meter, the generator or oscillator output voltage amplitude should be set to its maximum value when measuring low impedances (low resistance or inductance, high capacitance). This will ensure the correct signal-to-noise ratio, otherwise measurement accuracy and stability will be degraded.
However, care must be taken not to raise the temperature of the component due to the power dissipated.
In the case of non-linear components, such as ferrite inductors, it may be necessary to reduce the output level to avoid the effects of component saturation.
