Introduced as soon as the power of computers and the performance of analog-to-digital converters made it possible, digital filtering has become a fundamental tool in all areas of signal processing. See, for example, J. Max's book .

The methods described in this article can be used to construct such filters for simple cases. It should be borne in mind that digital filtering requires digitization of the sensor signal, and if the required performance is modest, this operation may not be justified. A stable, inexpensive analog filter may suffice.
