2. Definitions

2.1 Introduction

When designing a product, the engineering department uses the specifications to develop the overall drawings of the mechanism as well as the detailed drawings of each component.

The design drawings, which are prepared based solely on functional requirements, are then forwarded to the production engineering department, which is responsible for manufacturing the various parts, as well as to the quality control department, which is responsible for verifying that the manufactured parts meet specifications.
