7. Quantitative analysis
Once the solute(s) of interest have been identified, the chromatogram can be used for quantitative analysis using the relationship :
m
i
= K
i
A
i
which relates the mass m
i
of the solute i injected to the area of the peak A
i
representing this solute, due to the Gaussian shape of the differential curves traced on the recorder.
It is therefore necessary to measure the areas of the peaks and to determine, for each solute, the proportionality coefficient K
i
.
